Take salt baths and afterwards apply neem oil topically. Wash sheets, blankets, and clothes daily in hot water. If problem is not solved within 4 days, add an internal antiparasitic regimen and be more vigilant in controlling the infection.
For even faster action, take a bubble bath (use Miracle II or other "super-surfactant" soap), also adding either or both a cup or two of salt and/or thyme leaves in a mesh bag to the bathwater, before applying the neem oil.
Scabies is an itchy rash caused by a little mite that burrows in the skin surface. The human scabies mite's scientific name is Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis. This same type of creature, but a different species, causes mange in dogs. This species can also infect humans. The treatment is the same.
Scabies is a highly contagious skin disorder caused by a mite that burrows into the skin and produces an intense, itchy rash
Scabies is nearly always acquired by skin-to-skin contact with someone else with scabies. The contact may be quite brief such as holding hands. Frequently it is acquired from children, and sometimes it is sexually transmitted. Occasionally scabies is acquired via bedding or furnishings, as the mite can survive for a few days off its human host. This is why it is very important to wash sheets and any other bedclothes that one comes in contact with since it is so easy to reinfect.
It may also be necessary to treat furniture if it becomes infested. To do this, apply pure boric acid powder to the furniture and rub in lightly, let sit a half hour, and vacuum it out. Pure boric acid can be had at most department and grocery stores and is used for killing roachesl. Boric acid is very safe (but don't breathe too much or eat it since it is not rated for internal use).
Neem oil rubbed on topically is a quick solution to the problem. Pure cold pressed neem oil is available at many places online such as Bulk Apothecary and Starwest Botanical. Neem oil is not an essential oil - most undiluted essential oils cannot be rubbed directly on the skin - and is gentle and non irritating. Taking a bath as mentioned above is recommended before applying neem oil to make the skin softer and the topical more effective.
If neem oil cannot be found quickly, another effective topical can be made by adding thyme and/or oregano powder to olive oil and simmering for a half hour to quickly infuse the herbs into the oil. Cool, strain, and apply. Tea tree oil is another good topical and would probably rival neem oil for effectiveness if it could be applied straight, but should be diluted before use since it can be irritating applied straight.
If topical measures do not work quickly, it may be necessary to use antiparasitics internally to speed results. The recommended Eclectic product is among the best systemic antiparasitics. However, what may work even faster is Health Force Scram due to its large serving size (10 capsules per day) and large content of clove bud.
